The local anesthesia for the dental practitioner is a course that focuses on the study of the application of various physical, chemical, and psychological modalities to the prevention and treatment of preoperative and postoperative patient anxiety and pain. Emphasis on administration of local anesthesia infiltration and nerve blocks.

The course is designed in a hybrid format. The learner must complete the didactic portion online asynchronously instructor-led and meet in person for the clinical application and practice of injection techniques. The in person meetings are held at the NMSU-Doña Ana Dental Programs Clinic over two full days of practice.
