Dental Care: Understanding Behavior Modification and Supportive Stabilization

Self-paced

$10 Enroll

Full course description

Communication and education for health care providers, parents, and others whom may be involved in dental care for patients with specialized needs is important for the management of all persons rather than specific treatment requirements per oral or health condition.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recognizes that providing comprehensive care to individuals with special health care needs (SHCN) is an integral part to pediatric dentistry but also to adult dentistry as these behavior modifications and supportive stabilization techniques transfer. Patients with SHCN’s have an increased risk for oral diseases and clinicians must possess the skills needed for affective communication and application of treatment techniques.

Through this course, we will explore behavior modification and supportive stabilization in a dental setting.
